Umm Suqeim Park

Umm Suqeim Park has a prime location next to the sea and close to the Burj Al Arab. It’s very much a family park and is dominated by play areas. During the week, only ladies and children are allowed in although men are permitted at the weekends provided they are with their families.

By Dubai standards it’s a tiny park – the jogging track / path around the edge is just 550m – but still manages to have a cafe (with toilets). Mum can get a decent walk without doing several laps as she likes to push me along the path right next to the beach after our visits.

Happily for me, because I’m still so small, this park also has a couple of infant swings (which are for some reason quite rare in Dubai) along with all the usual playground equipment.

With the Burj Al Arab as a backdrop and located just opposite the beach, I always feel a touch of glamour when I rock up to this park in my Maxi Cosi Pebble. During the week, it’s usually possible to park on the road nearby but much more difficult at the weekend as the public beach just opposite the park’s entrance is very popular with residents and tourists.

Directions: From the Jumeirah Road (aka Beach Road or Jumeirah Beach Road) head towards Dubai with the Burj Al Arab / Wild Wadi on your left then at the next traffic lights with the junction of Thanya Road, turn left. Follow the road around to the right and the park is on your right hand side.
